Windsor-Essex Anti Hate Youth Collective

Project Summary

The Anti-Hate Youth Collective (AHYC) and the Windsor-Essex Anti-Hate Youth Collective (WEAHYC) are youth-led initiatives dedicated to dismantling racism, discrimination, and hate in Windsor-Essex through education, advocacy, and community engagement. From 2022–2024, these projects engaged thousands of students across the region, recruited over 130 youth participants, and mobilized hundreds of volunteer hours to create accessible anti-hate resources, campaigns, and events.

Through a combination of in-person programming, digital campaigns, leadership training, and youth-driven advocacy, AHYC and WEAHYC have created safe and empowering spaces for young people to learn, share lived experiences, and take meaningful action against hate. These initiatives have supported awareness on issues such as anti-Black racism, Islamophobia, anti-Asian hate, antisemitism, and 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion—while strengthening youth leadership and community connection across Windsor-Essex.

About the Anti-Hate Youth Collective

The Anti-Hate Youth Collective is a youth-led collective that empowers young people to challenge hate, racism, and discrimination in their schools and communities. Centered on lived experience, representation, and education, AHYC equips youth with the tools, confidence, and platforms needed to speak out against injustice and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Through workshops, campaigns, podcasts, art-based activism, and community partnerships, AHYC creates inclusive and supportive spaces where youth can build community, develop leadership skills, and engage in informed dialogue. By amplifying youth voices and fostering collaboration across cultures and identities, the Collective is building a generation of informed, empathetic, and action-oriented leaders working toward a more inclusive Windsor-Essex.
