South Asian Centre of Windsor launches a 5-Year Strategic Plan
The South Asian Centre of Windsor hosted the Strategic Plan launch event on May 17th, 2024 at the Caboto Club of Windsor. As a part of our commitment to the Windsor-Essex community, we launched and delivered our new forward looking strategic plan that encompasses our new mission, values and plans for the next five years.
Our members, partners and community groups gathered to celebrate the centre’s commitment towards growth and inclusivity for the Windsor-Essex community. Matthew Isaac, from the Aamjiwnaang First Nations gave the perfect kick start to the event with Indigeneous singing and drumming. Ms. Lisa Kolody, Executive Director, Windsor-Essex Community Foundation (WECF), Mr. Rakesh Naidu President and CEO of the Windsor-Essex Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Angelo Marignani from Ward 7, other special invitees and the Board and staff of SACW shared and provided invaluable insight towards our strategic plan.

“The South Asian Centre of Windsor will build new capacity and guide good governance to build a resilient organization that can adapt to new demands and deliver on our mission effectively for all South Asians in Windsor”, said Dr. Fazle Baki, President, South Asian Centre of Windsor. The Centre is committed to serving the community and ensuring that our programs and services are accessible by the diverse South Asian community of Windsor. With a surge in demand for services due to the growing community in Windsor, the Centre has expanded the Board composition with community members with diverse skills and background to support governance and implement strategies outlined in the 5 year Strategic Plan" Progressing Together". It is specially significant that the launch took place during the South Asian Heritage Month 2024 which celebrates the contribution of people of South Asain origin to Canada.
Community Services Recovery Fund is a one-time, $400 million investment by Government of Canada to help community service organizations, including charities, non-profits, and Indigenous governing bodies, adapt, modernize, and build internal organizational capacity. This investment will strengthen the sector as it supports recovery in communities across Canada.
We’d like to thank our guests and the Windsor-Essex community for their continued support, our funders for consistently supporting our visions and projects, and for our staff, volunteers and Board of Directors who work tirelessly towards the betterment of our centre.
